Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My father has undergone cataract surgery in both his eyes. He is fine with his left eye vision but not with the right eye vision. He had cataract surgery twice in the right eye and yet has blurred vision in the right eye. He then underwent another surgery to remove the new toric lens, and it was replaced with the lower-end lens in the right eye, and still, he could not see. Now he has a hazy and swollen cornea. What could be the reason for the hazy and swollen cornea? Currently, he uses Tobramycin eye drops. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. The edema could be due to corneal decompensation, which is possible after intraocular surgery due to poor endothelial cell count. Another possibility is damage to the retina by the disease, which causes bleeding in the eye (vitreous hemorrhage). Though blood is cleared, there might be damage to the retina by the disease. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
