Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My prostate was enlarged by 1.1 inch last month. Before the ultrasound, i.e., three months back, I felt wet and itchy on the top of the penis. So I went to the Urologist, and he prescribed antifungal lotion with a tablet. After the ultrasound, the Urologist advised Veltam-S for 10 to 15 days, which I am regularly taking but could not visit him since then. Now for a few days, I notice increased itching with added rectal irritation. Today in the morning, I found a creamy secretion on my penis outer skin. I am out of town, and I cannot find any urologist here. And I can consult my Urologist only after five days. Kindly advise medicine and explain what this is.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From your history, I can understand that you have chronic prostatitis. You need long term antibiotics treatment. Preferably we need semen culture before starting the treatment, but since you do not have access as you are out of town, I will recommend you antibiotic straight away. You can take tablet Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice daily for six weeks. If symptoms persist after six weeks of treatment, then please do semen culture and review again with the results.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
