Hello doctor,
I had braces for four years. And for gaining space, the dentist removed four teeth. I was not super happy with them, so I wore my retainer only for a while and then stopped. Now my bottom teeth are crooked again. My mouth and lips never feel comfortable at rest. I wonder if the braces are causing it? Have you seen anything like that before? Kindly help.

It seems like your lower jaw may be a little deficient. And it is causing the apparent spacing between lips and teeth (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity). I am not sure, as more detailed X-rays and front photographs are required. Thanks.

Regarding lips incompetency, you should consult a plastic surgeon and regarding lower jaw correction, you may need an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or both. Regards.
