Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am married for almost two years and have a baby. Before my marriage, my mother-in-law who is actually the aunt of my husband (my husband is adopted by her) had to face some problems with my parental family. Now, after my marriage, her behavior with me is really horrible. She never misses a chance to tease me without any reason. She even teases my husband if she sees us smiling together. I feel I have become a mental patient although I am a well-educated lady. If I ask my husband to talk to her, he refuses. I feel helpless. Sometimes, I want to commit suicide. I am totally depressed. Please guide me to overcome my feelings.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
From your account, it seems that you are having adjustment issues with your mother-in-law. This adjustment issue might have progressed into a depressive episode. That is why you might be having suicidal ideas. Hence, I would suggest you seek a thorough psychiatric opinion as well as psychotherapies in order to develop coping skills so that you can cope up well with such kind of issues in the future as well. Thank you.
