Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have recently developed a troubling condition that is causing discomfort. The skin around my lips has become extremely red, itchy and painful, despite my attempts to alleviate the symptoms using lip balm of various brands. I am seeking your advice and any recommendations you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to the icliniq family.

I would like to offer some suggestions for managing your dry, itchy lips:

  1. After returning from outdoors, please wash your face and lips with plain water.
  2. Ensure that you maintain a well-balanced diet as dietary deficiencies can cause dryness of the lips. I suggest supplementing your diet with Vitamin B complex and Folic acid for at least a month.
  3. It is best to avoid smoking as tobacco can dry out the lips.
  4. If you suffer from dry, itchy lips, it is recommended that you avoid alcohol consumption as it can dehydrate the body.
  5. Staying hydrated by drinking enough water is essential in preventing drying of the lips and skin.
  6. Aloe vera gel is an excellent home remedy for itchy lips.
  7. Apply a few drops of almond oil and leave it overnight.
  8. I recommend avoiding the application of cosmetics to the lip area.

I hope these suggestions will help you find relief from your symptoms. Do contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Best regards.
