Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have an earache, and I can hear myself breathing. Then it aggravates ear fullness, jaw pain, and distorted hearing. What could be the reason? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. I have a few questions, 1. Do you have pain in both ears or only one ear? 2. Do you notice any ear discharge? 3. Do you have tooth decay? 4. For how many days have you been experiencing these symptoms? 5. Did it start after an episode of a cold or running nose? Kindly follow up with the answers. Take care.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply. I have pain in both ears. There is no discharge. The jaw pain radiates to my teeth as well. I have been experiencing these for about a month and a half. I have not had a cold or runny nose. I also have a tickling sensation on the inside of my ear. Please give your suggestions.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The earache and hearing your own breathing will be mostly due to eustachian tube dysfunction. So, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below, 1. Do steam inhalation twice a day. 2. Take tablets Levocetirizine (antihistamine) with Montelukast (leukotriene receptor antagonist) one at night for ten days. 3. Practice the exercise called Valsalva maneuver 15 to 20 times a day. 4. Use Xylometazoline (nasal decongestant) nasal drops. Infuse three drops three times a day. 5. I suggest you to stop chewing hard substances for a while. The jaw pain seems to be due to TMJ (temporomandibular joint) arthritis. 6. Apply Diclofenac (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory) gel over your TMJ area and do hot fomentation. 7. Take tablet Aceclofenac (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory) with Serratiopeptidase (anti-inflammatory) twice daily after food for ten days. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent. I hope this shall do the needful. Kindly follow up if you have any queries. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
