What could be the reason for the increase in the floaters in my eyes and seeing flashes of vision?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been seeing more floaters in the eyes than usual. Also, I have seen streaks of light in my vision in the center of my eye. However, they last only a split second; also, I am seeing dark spots that last a little longer, typically 10 or 15 seconds. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It is annoying to see something abnormal in the visual field. There is a jelly-like substance in the eye called vitreous, and as age progresses, it starts to liquefy, and you start seeing floaters. I would suggest consulting an ophthalmologist immediately if there is an increase in these floaters or if you see flashes of light because these are the signs of retinal detachment. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
