Hello doctor,

I had protected sex with a commercial sex worker two years back; that was my first and last time having sex. The intercourse lasted for around half an hour with a protected oral blow job and vaginal sex. After sex, I tied the condom to confirm if it had tears and it was intact. I consulted multiple doctors as I was scared of contracting HIV and was told I had zero risk. Since then, I have had no health issues except for a drastic weight gain of around 11 kgs. Recently, I was on a business trip to multiple cities. Also, I changed my face cream to a different variant of the same brand that I use, after which for the past 10 days, I have had dryness, itchiness, and redness on my cheeks. I have never had such issues previously and have not used any medications for the same. I am concerned if there is any link between the dryness I am facing and HIV? Please help.

Firstly, you can stay assured that the dryness in your cheeks is not related to HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). I suggest you use the following products to help with the dryness. Wash your face using a mild cleanser twice a day for 20 days. Apply photostable sunscreen thrice a day daily in three hours intervals for two months. Apply a mild moisturizer after bath half an hour before sunscreen application at daytime for 20 days. Take capsule Antoxid-HC (antioxidant capsule) once daily after breakfast for a month. Also, follow the following diet and lifestyle modifications. Avoid direct sunlight. Use sunscreen half an hour before going outdoors. Avoid scratching and rubbing that area. Avoid using oily and greasy cosmetic products. Moisturize your skin daily. Stay hydrated. Drink seven to eight glasses of water daily. Consume foods rich in vitamin C and vitamin A. Consume fruits like berries, papaya, avocado, orange, muskmelon, etc. I hope this helps.
