Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 25 years old. I have asthma and anxiety. I have been experiencing headaches and body aches lately. No fever and no cold. But, I cough up phlegm. Also, when I burp, I taste something sour, and my throat feels dry. Please help.

Currently, I am taking Amitriptyline and used Breo ellipta for asthma.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sorry to hear about your concern. If you do not have any fever, cough, or cold and still experience headache and body ache, this could be due to lack of proper sleep, rest, and increased stress (both mental and physical).

Sour taste in burp is due to GERD (gastroesophageal reflux). The acid from the stomach is coming back up to the throat and causing irritation and leading to phlegm formation. It could also be due to other irritants like dust.

The inhaler you use for asthma contains some steroids, and if you have been using it for quite some time, it may lead to gastritis, burp, and throat irritation.

I would suggest to take smaller meals and identify your problem foods. Keep a watch on foods that cause more trouble. Do not lie down for at least two to three hours after meals.

Check with your doctor to change your asthma and anxiety medications, as these problems could be due to your medications' side effects.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
