Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I recently made a very foolish mistake. Eight days ago, I started experiencing itching on the upper side of my left eye, which was hidden by the eyelid. Initially, I thought it was due to some dust residue, so I rinsed my eye with water. However, the itching persisted the following day. Consequently, I went to a medical store and requested eye-cleaning drops. The pharmacist recommended Pyricol, which I used twice a day. My eye felt fine the next day, so I discontinued using the drops. Unfortunately, on the third day, the itching returned, so I resumed using the drops for another two days, which ultimately alleviated the itching. Throughout this experience, my eyes never appeared red. However, on the fifth day, I began to experience occasional hazy vision, as if I were wearing glasses. I did not have any headaches, but I decided to consult an eye doctor yesterday. After examining my eye, she discovered "High Pressure" in both of my eyes and scolded me for my foolish actions. She explained that I could lose my vision because I had developed Glaucoma due to using Pyricol. The doctor prescribed a five-day course of treatment, including Combigan Eye Drops, Tablet Lopar, and Syrup Kesol. All these medications are to be taken twice a day with a 12-hour interval. I am extremely frightened, and I would appreciate your help. Is the damage permanent? Will it worsen over time? Is there any way to restore my eyes? Additionally, I use cannabis every night, two hours before dinner, to alleviate my anxiety and reduce stress. Can I continue using cannabis while taking the prescribed medications mentioned above?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq family,

I want to assure you that there is no need to worry. I do not recommend using cannabis to alleviate anxiety. Various other methods, such as meditation, can help with anxiety relief. It is important to note that you are a steroid responder. Never use steroids without a doctor's prescription; inform your doctor about this incident. The hazy vision you are experiencing is temporary. Please discontinue using steroid eye drops. Instead, continue taking medication prescribed by your doctor. The pressure in your eyes will soon return to normal and will not increase further. I hope this information provides some clarity. Best regards.
