Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was having heavy periods with frequent cycles. I am diagnosed with a simple cyst in my ovary. I am getting mild pain near the uterus on the left side of the ovary. I am also diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism for which I am taking Levothyroxine 25 micrograms. My estrogen and prolactin levels are raised. Could you please have a look at my reports and suggest to me what went wrong and what medicines should I consider? Also, I am suffering from an episode of GERD currently for which my doctor suggested Pantocid. Can I take Pantocid in the presence of high prolactin?

Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Pantocid DSR (Domperidone and Pantoprazole) can raise Prolactin levels. So, I suggest do not take it unless the prolactin levels are under control. I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

1. Take a tablet of Ranitidine (antacid) or plain Pantocid for now as needed.

2. Increase Levothyroxine to 50 micrograms daily.

3. Repeat the Prolactin level at the fasting state.

Anovulatory periods can happen when Prolactin is high.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks a lot for your prompt response.

I had done the prolactin level test in a fasting state. Should I get the test done on any other day? Also, I have metal crowns on my teeth. Can I opt for a CT scan instead of an MRI?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please repeat the Prolactin level test. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is preferred over CT (computed tomography) for pituitary imaging. I suggest you consult your dentist.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
