Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife had gone to the gynecologist for her checkup. As per her reports, TSH was 2.86 mIU/mL. The doctor prescribed tablets Loette, Melmet SR 500, Myocyst sachet, Esmocim 40 mg, and syrup Lucid. After one year, she again checked the TSH. Then TSH was 5.750 mIU/mL, FT3 was 4.09 pg/ml, and FT4 was 1.29 ng/dL. The test for the latter was done through the ECLIA method. I am very tense with the last report. How can the TSH increase just in one year? Please tell me what we should do to reduce or naturally bring it to the normal range.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welocme to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

From what you have mentioned, it appears that your wife has a very slightly high TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). It means sub-clinical hypothyroidism and does not need any treatment. It can occur due to stress, sickness, lack of sleep, etc. There is nothing to worry about, and you should keep checking her TSH every three months.

Thank you.
