Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I missed my periods. And my last period was 11 months ago, which appeared as drops and lasted for five days. I also did a pregnancy test, but it came as negative.

Why is it so? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

There are many factors that can cause delayed periods other than pregnancy. Following strict diets, doing strenuous exercises, contraceptive pills, medications, and hormonal imbalances can all delay periods. A sudden increase in weight, irregular or scanty periods, and abnormal hair growth on any part of the body can all be a sign of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). So, I suggest you follow the given instructions to regulate your periods naturally.

  1. Follow a balanced diet that consists of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat only home-cooked food. Avoid all junk and processed foods.
  2. Drink plenty of water.
  3. Exercise regularly, practice yoga and meditation.

I will suggest you undergo the following tests -

  1. Serum beta HCG ( human chorionic gonadotropin) to check your pregnancy status.
  2. Urine pregnancy test.
  3. A transvaginal scan to detect a very early pregnancy.

In case you have lower abdominal pain, bleeding, or dizziness kindly report to a health care center immediately.

I hope this has helped you out.

Thanks and regards.
