Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

For two weeks, I have been unbearably itchy. I had a rash to go along with it that looked more like little plaque rashes but those have faded now. I am left with super itchy skin that bumps up when I itch but fades away after a while. The itching is driving me insane. I have seen two doctors and they have no clue what is going on, just that it is not contagious because my husband and kids do not have it.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

In my opinion, you are having urticaria as your rash came along with itching and then disappeared. You should note if something you have taken after which this itching has started like drugs, meat, expired poultry product, some insect bite reaction and even artificial food flavors also start this. I know it is hard to notice.

Please avoid any perfumes, and contact with pets as much as you can. What is the pattern of itch? Does it occur at night only or get aggravated at night? Moreover, please send the picture of your lesions if possible.

I suggest tablet Cetirizine 10 mg at night for 10 days. Apply Calamine lotion twice daily.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
