Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 67-year-old. I have chronic itching on my left arm between my elbow and forearm that radiates up to my shoulder. I have had this condition for 20 years and it is getting worse day by day. The only way to get relief from pain is ice massage. The pain is constant with sudden increase and decrease in duration. I have tried Cortisone creams, moisturizers, etc., but no use. There is no redness on my arms.

Please help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query.

Kindly send me a photo of the area where you have the itching and pain, for proper diagnosis and to give effective treatment.

As per your explanation regarding the problem that you are facing, it indicates a fungal infection, as the fungal infection is a recurrent problem. I suggest you follow the instructions mentioned below.

  • Do not keep the area wet where you have a problem.
  • Use powder frequently to keep the area dry.
  • Avoid itching and do not scratch on it.
  • Do not apply Steroid cream like Betnovate etc.
  • Do not stop the medicine once you get cured.
  • Continue the medicine for a long time to completely kill the fungus in the affected area.
  • Avoid excessive sweating and wet clothes.
  • Check for diabetes and thyroid level.
  • Take proper care, as it is really recurrent even after proper treatment.
  • I suggest you some medications, kindly use them.

    • Ketoconazole cream.
    • Tab.Terbinafine 250 milligrams for two months.
    • Take antihistaminic tab.Levocetirizine 10 milligrams twice a day.
    • I hope I answered your query. If you have not noticed any improvement after using medications, consult me on icliniq.com.

      Thanks and regards.
