Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having problems with bumps appearing on my face and oiliness on my T-zone. I mostly get breakouts on my forehead and chin. Never have I had truly clear skin no matter what I tried. Now recently I have developed itchy bumps on my cheeks but more bumps on my right cheek than my left. The breakouts on my chin and forehead are also itchy. I also have a history of extremely painful cystic acne, dry skin, and acne scars. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Acne is somewhat hormonal and due to oily skin.

1. Do not use hair oil and any sticky cream on the face.

2. Avoid oily food, chocolates, and milk products.

3. Avoid dust, and always use sunscreen (above 30 SPF).

4. Do not rub any cream on your face.

5. Do not use any steroid creams.

6. Continue treatment at least for a month.

7. Avoid touching or pressing the acne.

For treatment, I suggest the following.

1. Clindamycin gel. This is more preventive and curative so I tell patients to use it all over the face in the morning.

2. Adapalene gel. I advise using it over acne at night.

3. Tablet Doxycycline 100 mg once a day.

However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thanks and take care.
