Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 28-year-old male with a broken tooth on my left side. I could feel the broken tooth with my tongue. Recently, I woke up with severe pain in the right side of my jaw close to my ear. I am experiencing pain in the right side jaw when chewing, yawning, or opening my mouth.

It has been a month since the pain started. I get relief from pain when the jaw area is pressed with my finger. I am taking pain relief medications to cope with pain. I am consulting a dentist to fix the broken teeth on the left side. Could you suggest what caused the pain?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

When a tooth is near a nerve, it may induce pain. You can consider the following treatment:

  1. Do not open your mouth a lot.

  2. Do not touch the left tooth with your tongue.

  3. Keep your mouth relaxed.

  4. Do not bite or grind teeth unnecessarily.

  5. Massage your jaw from the outer side.

  6. Use a warm cloth to soothe the jaws. Put a warm cloth near the painful part and keep it for a few minutes. Repeat it twice or thrice a day. You can use ice too, but a warm cloth will work better.

  7. Ask the doctor to treat the tooth or extract it according to the condition of the tooth.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thank you.
