Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My father has been suffering from low Hb levels. When he met with an accident, my brother and I gave blood to him for an operation. At that time, his HB level was normal. After that, his blood went down again, then he consulted with a hematologist's doctor, he prescribed some medicines for one month, and after one month, his blood increased but not to normal. Now, we checked his blood, and the report shows that his Hb is 6.7 g/dL, ESR is 80 mm per hour, and platelets are 85000. Now he is 60 years old. He has anemia.

Please, we need graceful help for him to cure this sickness. With full hope, waiting for your answers.

Thanking you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advise. For low hemoglobin levels that is anemia underlying cause should be searched for. Usually iron tablet or syrup can be prescribed for anemia. But you are having low platelet count as well. So you need to investigate further. You should get investigated with iron profiles reports, vitamin B12 estimation and peripheral smear examination report. According to that report further management can be decided. If no cause identified and these low HB and platelet count persist than bone marrow aspiration study might needed for final work up.

I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further. Best regards.
