Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a blue or grey or purplish raisin sized lump next to my anus for three to four days now. I believe it is hemorrhoid but as I have never had one before and I am not sure. It almost looks as if a small blood clot is inside due to the blueish hue. It is not painful (maybe slightly uncomfortable at worst), it is not itchy, and it does not bleed.

I never had rectal bleeding or any blood in my stool, and I have no abdominal pain or discomfort. Several days ago I did strain slightly while passing a massive bowel movement and it was after this BM I noticed a bit of soreness around my anus and then felt and discovered this lump. I have no other symptoms or issues other than this small lump. I am a 31-year-old healthy female with no medical history, I take no medications other than an over the counter multivitamin, and I have no known allergies. Is there a way for me to send a photo for reference?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I saw the image (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It looks more like external hemorrhoid with a blood clot within. Is it increasing in size? How are your bowel habits, frequency, and stool consistency? Please revert with details so that I can give a specific opinion.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

As far as I know, it seems to be the same size. I have not noticed it getting more significant. It has been there about four days now. I did send a picture to a doctor I know, and he said it was a thrombosed hemorrhoid, but I wanted a second opinion. A few weeks ago, I had a bout of diarrhea for about a week that cleared up. I almost always have a bowel movement once a day, soft and formed and brown. I have never had rectal bleeding or any blood in my stool and any abdominal pain. I rarely ever have any GI issues.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Nothing to worry then. It usually resolves in two weeks. Do not injure it, can result in severe pain. Avoid straining at stools. Make sure you have soft stools for the next few weeks. You can improve hydration, avoid constipating foods, and shift to a high fiber diet. I hope your queries have been cleared.Do get back if any concerns.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
