Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 62 year old mother has been experiencing lower back pain for the last two to three days. She did some heavy work in the kitchen a few days ago and developed these symptoms. She has been taking one or two Crocin a day and using a hot bath, but that does not help much. Please suggest a suitable remedy. She prefers to take common painkillers like Brufen, Tylenol, etc. Also, she is on the following medicines currently for various health conditions. Esam 5 mg, Clopitab CV, Noe-Mercazole, Shelcal HD and Becoset-Z.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. We are here to offer our assistance regarding your mother's health concern. It appears that she might be experiencing either muscular back pain or a prolapsed intervertebral disc compression. To determine the exact issue, it is advisable to undergo an MRI lumbo-sacral spine examination. This will help rule out potential problems and allow for appropriate treatment if needed.

For muscle pain, a combination of Diclofenac and Thiocolchicoside, which includes a painkiller and a muscle relaxant, could be recommended. However, it is crucial to consult a doctor, discuss the symptoms, and seek their approval before starting any medication.

To alleviate discomfort, your mother can also try hot fomentation in the affected area and apply Diclofenac ointment locally. Additionally, getting physiotherapy, particularly ultrasonic heat massage, can be beneficial in managing the condition. It is essential to follow professional medical advice to ensure the most effective and safe approach to her well-being.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Thank you for your quick response and assistance. We will surely get the scans done in due course, as advised by you. For now, please suggest a specific painkiller to take. She is already using Voveran ointment and Volini spray. Is it fine to use one of these or should we go for something else? Just knowing the active ingredients does not help me much, so again, please give me a specific name.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. You can find commonly available painkillers combined with muscle relaxants in the market under names like Flexon-MR (Chlorzoxazone), which should be taken twice daily. However, it is essential to obtain a prescription from your doctor before starting any medication to ensure its suitability for your mother's condition.

As for topical pain relief, she can continue using Volini gel or spray to alleviate discomfort. It's always best to follow medical advice and recommendations to ensure proper management of her health concerns.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
