Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I want to enquire about something. I have been masturbating in my sleep for the past few months (it is more frequent when I am under stress). In a week, it happens two or three times. Suppose I am under pressure or in a very emotional state of mind, the frequency increases. I do have sleep difficulties. I sleep at 2 AM or 3 AM at times. I get occasional migraines, and I also feel exhausted daily, even with enough rest. When I fall asleep early and have a good rest on certain days, I still wake up feeling lethargic. I have sudden pain on the temple of the head and the sides mostly. I realized that I get this pain whenever I consume peanuts. My fingers are shaking and trembling. It comes and goes now and then. My family members have noticed this. Also, six years back, I suddenly blacked out and fainted while at work, but I did not seek medical help. Is this a call for concern, and should I be seeing a specialist for this?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am sorry that you have these problems. At the same time, it is good that your description indicates nothing towards an escalating danger. Nevertheless, you need to see a neurologist and make sure that your brain and central nervous system are free of significant pathologies. A neurologist is not a psychiatrist, so it is not about your mental health but about finding out if your “electric wiring” has a defect or not. That is even more than just a metaphor. Our bodies work this way, and in your case, we need to be sure that there is no damage to your nerves and synapses. The standard tests take some time, but they are not dangerous. So, please settle an appointment with a local neurologist. I am sure you will get your problem solved. Stay strong and safe.

The Probable causes

Peripheral nerve issue.

Investigations to be done

Consult a neurologist. EEG (electroencephalography). MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).

Probable diagnosis

To be made by a neurologist in person after the above mentioned tests.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
