Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have missed my periods for 13 days. The 11th day pregnanacy blood test is negative. Am I pregnant?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your problem and will surely help you. Delay in periods can be due to several reasons like hormonal changes, stress, overweight etc. Hormonal changes can be due to body changes or some medicines which are hormone based like birth control pills, medicines to regulate periods, etc. If you have taken any in last 1-2 months it can also be a reason. Stress in patients due to COVID and other situations are also leading to delay in periods. You do not seem to be overweight so we can negate it. Now coming to your last point of pregnancy, yes the beta hCG level does not speak of that as per report. However, if you have been involved in sexual activity in the form of unprotected intercourse I would request you to undertake home urine pregnancy test with first urine of the day. If that is again negative and may be by tomorrow or day after you do not get period signs or periods, then I will suggest you medicines which will be easily available in nearby chemist shops.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
