Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 25-year-old female and my weight is 187 pounds. I am taking Fluoxetine 60 mg for anxiety and depression. Earlier I was on a 40 mg dose and felt perfect. My anxiety had gone and I was happy. I was going out and it was great. Then I had a downfall. I always felt tired and did not want to do anything. I got slight anxiety and was not talking to anyone. Then my doctor increased the dose to 60 mg. After a few weeks, I was back to being great and talkative. One month later I have again gone back to being tired and I do not want to do anything. Is this normal with Fluoxetine? Earlier I was taking Lexapro, but it did not work for me and caused a weight gain of 88 pounds. Kindly help.

Hi,

We welcome you to icliniq family.

I appreciate the confidence you place in me for your health consultation. I understand your pain and discomfort. As per your history is concerned, I suggest you to take tablet Fluoxetine 60 mg for anxiety and depression, check your hemoglobin levels. If it is low take an iron sucrose injection with 100 ml saline for two times a week, take vitamin B12 injection four times a week for one month and then take it once a month, take a multivitamin tablet A to Z once a day at bedtime, check your fasting blood sugar, TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), T3 (triiodothyronine), and T4 (thyroxine), and do a pelvic transvaginal ultrasound examination to rule out uterine pathology. This will clear your fatigue and do a follow-up after 15 days. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
