Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 17-years-old, taking birth control pills for about two years or so. I was not regularly taking the medicines for some time. However, I have been taking them very strictly these past two months. My partner and I are sexually active, but never actually had sexual intercourse. We engage in superficial sexual activities. What I am concerned about is I do not know how safe we are. I know I take precautions but I am worried that if precum got on any of our hands, I could be pregnant. I know for sure he has never fingered me with a glop of semen on his hand. But there is the possibility of him having some pre-ejaculation on his hands. My last period was about two months ago, in the initial days of the month. I bled light to medium for the next five days but I had no cramps which was quite unusual for me as I have always had cramping, even on the pill. I have extreme breast and nipple sensitivity and my nipples have enlarged for at least the past three days. I also have a thick, creamy white discharge. What is that? The internet says that it is an early sign of pregnancy. I am so nervous. Also, I am going to the doctor in a couple of days. Is it too early to get a pregnancy test?

I am super worried but have about a week and a few days until my period. and I cannot afford a test now.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

The discharge could be because of stress, hormonal changes or some vaginal infection, work pressure, anxiety, change of place, change in climate, etc. Just by fingering, even if there is some precum or semen, there are very rare chances of pregnancy. Since you are on pills there is nothing to worry about. Just take the pills regularly.

However, if you happen to miss your period then get a urine pregnancy test done with an early morning urine sample to ensure that you are not pregnant.

Do get back to me with reports so that I can guide you further.

Take care.
