Hello doctor,

My meatus looks slightly inflamed, and I see a red dot. It is not much pain, but it looks like a lip sometimes. This has happened to me before, but it did not give me any problem and disappeared. It happened after masturbation, and I felt a slight burning after ejaculation and felt like urinating after every half an hour. But I started some Homeopathic medication, and the burning sensation stopped, but the inflammation is the same. It settles down when it is untouched, but it is a little sensitive to touch and slightly painful. Right now, I have been prescribed a Calendula solution and cream by a Homeopathic doctor, but I want to know if this is normal to happen or not.

Burning on urination in the long-term indicates chronic inflammation of the prostate. For proper diagnosis, we need semen for culture and choose the proper antibiotic, which is needed for long-term about six weeks as antibiotics penetrate the prostatic capsule slowly and require time to treat prostatitis. After healing, there should not be inflammation of the meatus as well. Please follow up with semen culture results to give you a proper antibiotic. Chronic prostatitis can be bacterial or without bacteria if the culture is negative. I will start you on different medications. Therefore follow-up is important.
