Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 35 years old. I have gas bubbles in my stools with an unpleasant smell. I am also underweight and have GERD-like symptoms. What could be the reason for this?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Gas bubbles in stools are normal. I mean, stool and gas have the same passage. If you have GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), then you should be evaluated and treated. It needs a detailed history, physical examination, and baseline laboratory investigations to see why you are underweight. Maybe this explains your other symptoms too. I will be waiting for your detailed history and all available laboratory investigations so that I can give you better clinical advice.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is an average weight for your age. Regarding your GERD symptoms, I suggest the following medications.

(Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.)

1. Capsule Pantoprazole 40 mg (proton pump inhibitor) once daily a half hour before breakfast for two weeks.

2. Antacids syrup 10 ml after each meal and as per need at night time.

I hope this will improve your symptoms. Avoid fatty meals and spicy meals for two to four weeks.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
