Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have had suicidal thoughts for the past ten days. I have negative feelings such as loneliness and nervousness, I feel hopeless, and I cannot complete any tasks. I decided to make things better every day but never succeeded. I have been unemployed for the past four years and unable to focus on my studies.

Please help me find a solution to my problem.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

You are suffering from a major depressive disorder due to chronic stressful conditions. There are many helpful non-pharmacological measures to tackle depression. I suggest you follow a few instructions mentioned below -

Start exercising regularly. A simple 30 - 40 minute walk every day will be helpful.

  1. Keep yourself hydrated, and drink plenty of water and fresh fruit juices.
  2. Meditate for at least 20 minutes daily. Sit in a quiet, comfortable position, concentrate on breathing, and let your thoughts flow and relax.
  3. Eat only healthy fresh, home-cooked food. Avoid any processed or junk food.
  4. If you live far, spend quality time with your friends and family, and talk with them on the phone or via video call.
  5. Spend time on creative hobbies like reading books on positivity, maintaining a diary or journal, learning new skills, a new language, or a musical instrument.
  6. Sleep well for seven to eight hours a day.
  7. Abstain from alcohol and tobacco, and do not indulge in substance abuse.
  8. Start looking for a job. It can also be a part-time job but at least start.
  9. If you are preparing for competitive exams, try to study with a group. Have patience and keep working hard.
  10. Suicide is not the only solution to every problem, but every problem has a good solution. Be positive and brave, and things will surely work out.

If you still have any symptoms after following all the measures mentioned above, I suggest you consult a psychiatrist and take medications. Also, I suggest you undergo the following blood tests -

  1. CBC (complete blood count)
  2. Thyroid function tests.
  3. Ceck vitamin B12 and D3 levels.

I hope this has helped you out.

Good luck.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
