Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been feeling very low for years and want to know if I have depression. Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Ruhi Satija

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You can talk to me. I can understand it is a difficult situation to be in. However, I suggest talking to a professional about your low self-esteem and confidence. Your thoughts and character define who you are, not what other people think. For clinical depression, you should be fulfilling the criteria to match the diagnosis. Some of them are sadness, sleep disturbance, increased appetite, weight gain, anhedonia, lack of concentration or energy, etc. If you have all these symptoms, then you might require medication. Secondly, I would suggest you start counseling therapy sessions, you can find a local therapist, or we can begin online counseling therapy sessions via video consultation.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
