Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 19-year-old boy. I recently had a minor accident, and since then, I have been having a little pain in my right wrist when moving it to its extreme position. Also, just at the wrist joint (the place just near where a watch sits on the wrist), I can see one of my muscles a bit more than my left hand. The pain is only felt when moving the wrist to its extreme positions or when doing any pushing movement (any push form). Pain is not felt in day-to-day activities such as typing, writing, etc. Pain increases at the end of the day if the wrist is stressed more. I have been taking only painkillers recommended by a local doctor. I took an X-ray of the wrist, and the doctor said there was nothing to be worried about.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. As per your detailed description, you are most likely suffering from a condition called tenosynovitis or tendonitis. In this condition, there is swelling and inflammation of the tendon (the ends of the muscle which attach with bone), which may be caused by many reasons, minor injury, as in your case, is the commonest cause. Thank you for sharing the picture (the attachment is hidden to protect the patient's identity) with the marked area. This helps to come to a more accurate diagnosis. For now, I would suggest you use a wristband most of the time (the band which cricketers or sportspersons wear). Avoid wearing a wristwatch. Do some light wrist exercises and avoid heavy weight lifting or long computer typing. Some very good medicines are available in the market for this specific condition. Please follow back with my appointment, and I will be able to suggest you the best treatment and medicines as well. I hope I have explained it in a simple way.
Thank you.
