Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got a tooth filling done two months ago, and now the filling is dislodged, and the base of the tooth is exposed. So whenever I drink water, I have a tingling sensation. What is the treatment option for that tooth? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Do you have sharp or dull pain? Ideally, an X-ray should be taken to check the status of the remaining teeth. The tooth has three layers, outer enamel, dentin, and inner nerve layer called the pulp. If the decay or the broken filling is in the first two layers, a composite filling will help, but if the decay is close to the inner nerve layer, a simple filling cannot be done. Instead, it may require a root canal treatment. A filling can be done if there is no pain and the sensitivity is minimal, but the exact treatment depends on the X-ray. I would suggest visiting a dentist, getting an X-ray done, and getting the treatment immediately.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
