Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a question regarding my lower front tooth. It was luxated and I when I visited my dentist, he said he could save the tooth and he put a splint on my lower six front teeth. He said I should wear it for six months and that, in time, would heal. It has been four months now but I still cannot chew anything with my tooth because it hurts on pressure. Is this normal and how long do I need to wait for it to heal completely?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It would have become normal by the third month and in the next three months, it might become more firm. But, if you are still having pain and pressure then it indicates that it might not be saved and ultimately might go for extraction if luxation is grade 3. If luxation is minor grade 1 then you can get root canal treatment done of the tooth in question and get the bridge done in anterior teeth, then it might be covered under the bridge and will be saved in the arch. If mobility is greater then get it extracted.

And yes, since the dentist has said for six months time period, do it. Meanwhile, keep doing saline water mouth rinses. Take a 1/4th teaspoon of salt in a cup of lukewarm water and do its rinses 3 to 4 times a day. It helps tooth to get firm in the gingiva. Keep doing it for the next two months. Miracle can definitely happen. If not, then I have told you already what should you opt for. Stay happy and blessed.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
