Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I experience pain during intercourse. Also, I noticed a thick white discharge and a reddish vagina, which causes itching sometimes and produces a bad smell. What could be the reason?

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

You have symptoms of vaginal infection or vaginitis. Before starting the treatment, I suggest you to get a blood sugar analysis done. And if the results reveal that you are diabetic, then that needs to be corrected first. Also, I suggest your partner to get his blood sugar levels checked. So, both you and your partner will need the treatment. However, I suggest you to follow the instructions mentioned below,

1. Take the tablet Azithromycin (antibiotic) 1 gm before food. It is a single-dose medication.

2. Take a tablet of Fluconazole (antifungal) 150 mg after food. It is a single-dose medication and do not repeat doses.

3. Take the tablet Doxycycline (tetracycline antibiotic) 100 mg twice a day for seven days.

4. Use intimate vaginal washes twice a day around the vaginal area and on the inner part as far as your fingers reach.

5. Use vaginal antifungal suppositories like Candid-CL (Clindamycin and Clotrimazole) or Clingen forte (Clindamycin, Tinidazole, and Clotrimazole) once at night for one week.

6. In addition, your partner can take the tablet Levoflox (Levofloxacin) 500 mg once a day for ten days.

7. Avoid sexual intercourse for 2 to 4 weeks.

Consult a specialist, talk with them and take the medications with their consent.

Bleeding during periods, thick vaginal discharge, feeling feverish, and vaginal pain during periods will reduce. And pain during sexual intercourse can be due to reduced lubrication. All these symptoms will be relieved with these medications. So, do not delay the treatment, as this can affect your fertility potential.

I hope I have clarified your query.

Kindly follow up if you have any doubts.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
