Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 20 years old, and after my wisdom tooth came out, my other teeth moved. I consulted a dentist, who suggested I not be concerned. Can I undergo orthodontic treatment for just 1-2 mm space? Will my teeth look natural after treatment? Can you provide an opinion?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read through your complaint and the relevant details.

I read your X-ray (attachments are hidden to protect the patient's identity) and found your lower right teeth to be angulated in one direction. This should be the cause of your wisdom tooth erupting on that side. I wonder why you say that your wisdom tooth has fallen off. Wisdom teeth are strong that they cannot come out easily. So for straightening the angulated teeth, as your doctor said, orthodontic treatment is the best. Since you are young, braces treatment will be very successful and give you long time permanent results compared to any other method of correction. The grinding of teeth is not required to gain space and push the teeth straight. However, you might have to get two of your back teeth removed (first or second premolars), and the gap will eventually be closed at the end of the treatment. It can take up to eight months to fix this with regular bi-monthly check-ups. Overall, I suggest you go for it and have a happy smile.

I hope your query was resolved.

Thank you.
