Can dislodged filling cause swelling and tooth pain?
Hello doctor,
For the past three days, I have had severe tooth pain and swelling. My filling fell out and it has started to decay to the point that I only have half a tooth and a giant hole where food is constantly getting stuck. The swelling is so bad I can only describe it as it looks as if I am hoarding a golf ball in my cheek. The pain has subsided due to warm salt water rinses, Peroxide or warm water rinses, Tylenol for every four hours, warm compress, and brushing my teeth every three hours. But the swelling has not gone down at all. How can I get it to go down?

Is it normal to have mild to moderate throbbing tooth pain after placing a permanent crown?
Hello doctor,
I had a permanent crown placed on my tooth four days back. Now I have mild to moderate throbbing pain in my tooth. I cannot sleep. I took pain relievers, and the pain was relieved. It is sensitive only to cold and was not painful at all before the crown was placed. It had a large filling, and the cavity was deep, but there was no mention of infection or need for a root canal, and X-rays looked normal. Also, during the crowning procedure, my tooth became sensitive and hurt when he put the cement on the tooth. Even while being numb, I could feel the pain of the cement. Please give me your thoughts on whether this is normal after less than a week. By the way, the crown was done in a one-day procedure.
