Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I fell while skiing, and since the following week, I am having pain in the inside of my ankle when I cross it over my body and lean forward (stretching), or if I cross it under me and sit on that foot. It does not hurt to walk or rotate my ankle. Also, I have no swelling. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Falling from skiing usually causes a grade 1 to 2 sprain of ankle ligaments and usually affects the inside of the ankles. Bony injury is less likely in your case. You may have twisted the ankle causing the ligaments to undergo strain. You can use an ankle cap with local analgesic gel application and hot fomentation. Take anti-inflammatory analgesic tablets. If this does not help, you can get an X-ray or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) done to rule out ligament or bony injury.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to ask me any follow-up queries that you may have.

Thank you.
