Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My girlfriend is B negative group and I am O positive group.
Is it advisable for us to get married or give birth?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Yes, the blood group is not at all a barrier to your marriage. Your wife is Rh-negative, so she will be given anti-D immunoglobulin injection during pregnancy at the 28th and 34th week of gestation to prevent hemolytic disease of the newborn. So do not worry about that.
I will suggest one investigation before getting married, which is Hb electrophoresis by the HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) method, to rule out hemoglobinopathy, which should be done before marriage.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
