Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from candidial balanitis for the past two months. I was using Candid B (Clotrimaloze and Beclomethasone) ointment twice daily, as prescribed by a doctor. A few days ago, my symptoms seemed to worsen. I decided to try using Zole ointment (Miconazole nitrate) instead. The first few days were alright, and my symptoms vanished. But today, I noticed foreskin tightening and flaking at the edges. The point where the foreskin connects to the head of the penis seemed dry too. I applied the Candid B cream instead and noticed that the skin at the connecting point is peeling off a little, and some blood came out as well, and it is not sore. Should I be concerned? Is Zole safe to be put on the penis head and foreskin? Can I use Candid B once a day and Zole once a day? Please guide me.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

My foreskin only became red after using Zole ointment. The small white bit in the skin where it attaches to the penis peeled off and blood came out. Thrush is minimal as long as I apply my ointments.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for providing photographs (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Yes, there is redness, peeling, and mild-fissured skin. No need to worry. It can be a part of candidiasis. Zole and Candid B are the treatment of it. But for this time, you can apply Onabet B (Sertaconazole and Beclomethasone) cream in the morning for seven days, Tacroz 0.03% ointment at night for 15 days. Continue Miconazole 2% cream in the afternoon for two weeks, Limcee 500 mg (vitamin c) one tablet dissolved in a glass of water and drink water for 20 days. Review after ten days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
