Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I suffer from GERD. My gastrointestinal symptoms include belching, heartburn, nausea, and regurgitation. In addition to bitter taste and dry cough, epigastric pain is also prevalent.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

In my opinion, along with table Omeprazole (Prilosec), you should take the tablet Levosulpiride (Dislep). And lifestyle modifications are also critical. Do you smoke or consume alcohol? Is there a source of tension in your life? Are you stressed?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I do not smoke or use alcohol. Previously, I always ate late and seldom. All of that is now over. I have been researching, and the H.Pylori keeps popping up. I am also curious whether that is the root cause.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Yes, improper eating habits, often seen as a part of lifestyle these days, can develop GERD. GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a digestive disease in which stomach acid or bile irritates the food pipe lining) is caused by a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). To identify the presence of H. pylori, you will have to get an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy done. Can you confirm if you have done an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy recently?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

No, I have not done any upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy in recent times.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Considering the instance, I suggest you meet a Gastroenterologist in person. In the meantime, you may start taking tablet Pantoprazole (Protonix) and tablet Levosulpiride (Dislep).

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Sure, I can try to act upon your advice. I have a few more concerns regarding the occurrence. Can you please comment on the probability of the GERD condition becoming an ulcer? I am also experiencing severe throat irritation, causing me difficulty breathing. Can I confirm GERD could be the root cause of this condition? How long should I take the medication to cure the symptoms I have now?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I suggest you start tablet Pantoprazole (Protonix) and tablet Levosulpiride (Dislep) combination at the earliest. GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease) can be turned into a gastric ulcer (a sore that develops on the lining of the oesophagus, stomach, or small intestine) unless given proper medical attention. And certainly, GERD can cause throat irritation. It may be helpful if you could make your last question clear.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I meant that could Pantoprazole and Levosulpiride cure GERD permanently? Besides the pain in my throat, I often feel an acidic taste and foul breath, unlike before.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If it is Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori), you will require antibiotics to treat it. Treatment with tablet Pantoprazole (Protonix) and tablet Levosulpiride (Dislep) will last at least three months. Is it accessible over-the-counter (OTC)? And may I know your diet regime?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
