Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Four months ago, I had an unsafe exposure and got tested for HIV. I got the result as non-reactive. Should I test again?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The HIV antibody test is negative after three months of exposure. It is conclusive, provided there is no further exposure to any risk factors. Therefore, there is no need for further HIV tests.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex four months before; I got tested after the 39th day of exposure; it was an ELISA test, and it came non-reactive. After that, on the 110th day, I had a rapid HIV test from the lab, and the result was non-reactive. I was again tested on the 131st day, and it was the same rapid test done in a lab, and the results came non-reactive. Should I test further? I get fearful if I see any disease symptoms in my body.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If the HIV antibody test is done in a reliable laboratory and is negative after three months of exposure (131st day from the exposure ), then it is conclusive. I do not see a need for further HIV tests.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
