Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from symptoms of hypothyroidism for many years. My doctor did tests, and my TSH was 0.3 mU/L. I do not understand this. I struggle to lose weight, am always cold, suffer from anxiety, get muscle aches, and am constantly tired. I have always had weight issues and was on a diet as a teenager, which was no help. After having children, it got worse. Currently, I am taking Sertraline.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand you are concerned. Thyroid hormone issues are the easiest to fix but after a proper diagnosis. Most of your symptoms suggest hypothyroidism, apart from anxiety, which is consistent with hyperthyroidism. Let me emphasize that TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) level may be low in secondary hypothyroidism. So we need to first look at your thyroid hormone levels. If these are normal, we need to look at your pituitary gland. However, that is accompanied by many other symptoms like headaches, menstrual irregularity, low blood pressure, etc.

Please let me know if you have more symptoms, and do provide me with the thyroid hormone levels. Also, get a serum electrolyte test done to rule out hypokalemia.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
