Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My left calf started hurting randomly last night. It has been hurting all day.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query.

I can understand your concern.

According to your statement, your left calf has been hurting since last night. Pain in the calf muscle may result from various underlying health conditions like muscle injury due to many causes that are most common, muscle cramps or strains, nutritional deficiencies like magnesium or potassium, dehydration, nerve problems, knee joint problems, foot, and ankle problem, injuries to the Achilles tendon, arterial or neurogenic claudication and many more. So, your calf pain may result from minor and common causes like muscle sprains or strains, muscle injuries, nutritional deficiencies, dehydration, etc. Take painkillers like Ibuprofen or Naproxen with multi nutrients enriched foods or supplements. Apply hot or cold compresses on your painful area 2 to 3 times daily. Take plenty of fluids to prevent any dehydration. If not subsided, you should undergo some investigations that may help detect the underlying causes for your present sufferings and then treat them accordingly.

Take care.
