Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 37 years old. I had a Vitamin D3 deficiency with back pain five years ago when I was working abroad. I came back and did physiotherapy and Ayurvedic treatment. Things got better in the next two years time, but still, I need to take care while lifting weights as I have slight back pain at times until today. This is just information, and I am doing exercises and following up with Ortho sometimes.

I have the below symptoms for the past two years at times. I am not sure if it is related to the above but telling you the symptoms.

I sometimes get lightheaded when seeing objects rotate and going in a circle mode. When I see kids playing on merry go round and a rotating grinder while preparing the batter, I feel lightheaded after seeing that and immediately feel better if I do not see that. Why do these symptoms happen? Is this an ear issue or something? Any feedback will be useful.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You have developed thought in your subconscious mind like things will spin in the head if you see them going around. Some people are scared of heights, rain, etc. It is similar to that. And if we suspect vertigo. Vertigo usually occurs when fluid moves from one canal to another canal in the ear, and this happens while changing the head position from one side to the other side. But in your case, it is occurring due to different reasons. If possible, you can remove the thought from your mind or else avoid going to such places where you see objects moving in a circular mode.

If it continues even after that, I would suggest you take tablet Vertin 16 mg after meal once when you get vertigo. And later on, consult with an ENT specialist once. Apart from that everything seems to be fine. So do not worry.

Do you get it while turning head position? How long does it stay? What medicine are you taking currently?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I can avoid going to such places where I see objects moving in a circular mode. But it was not like this before three years. Only in the last two to three years, I get that lightheadedness.

I do not get lightheaded while turning the head position. My head movements do not influence those things. In fact, I drive my two-wheeler on roads and hardly get those lightheaded feelings at that time when turning left and right. It is only when I see people rotate or see objects rotate, as I said earlier, that I get that lightheadedness. I feel uncomfortable if I keep on seeing that.

If I move away from that place, it goes automatically after a few minutes. If I get to lie down and then get up back, it immediately goes off in 5 to 10 minutes. Currently, I am not taking any medicines.

One more thing that I told you earlier as I have been dealing with back and spine pain issues for the past couple of years. Sometimes as a part of that, I get sudden nerve movement in the back when I change positions after continuous sitting, and it causes some discomfort. Do these circular movement issues that I get in my head seems to be related to these spine issues?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Short time vertigo is mainly associated with the ear, and it can be fixed by the Epley maneuver, which is performed by ENT specialists. Hardly it can be related to spine issues.

As I mentioned, mostly vertigo is caused when fluid moves inside the ear canal. So I would suggest you take tablet Vertin for a week when you get these symptoms. If it stops, then fine if not, you can further consult with an ENT once.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
