Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son is 14 years old. He has nearsightedness with -3 diopter and he goes for computer programming classes regularly. His aim to be a computer engineer. Can he go for it or if his myopia gets worse in future or affects his vision in the future, can he work on computers?

Answered by Dr. Shikha Gupta

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Sure, he can go for glasses. Myopia can progress but that may progress even if he is not doing computers. Just make sure he uses his glasses most of the times while using computers also. Get his vision tested regularly at six months. Get his power changed whenever he feels there is any change. Make sure to get the adequate prescription from an ophthalmologist, not from an optometrist only.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
