Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

The pain first started on the top corner of my chest, and then a month ago, it moved to my left abdomen. The pain is intermittent and feels like pressure cramps. It gets worse when I eat food. I have lost around 30 pounds as I cannot eat food due to pain and an irregular heartbeat. My symptoms got even worse after getting a covid infection and my baby's delivery. I want to get an opinion from a cardiologist about my chest and abdominal pain because I cannot find answers. Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Unusual awareness of own heartbeats is called palpitations. Palpitations may occur due to the following reasons such as due to fast heart rate, due to a slower heart rate, due to Irregular heart rate, due to being overcautious about own heartbeats. Thin, lean patients can feel heartbeats, especially in a recumbent position which is normal. I suggest you the following. You must avoid being overcautious about your heartbeats. You must do regular aerobic exercises. This will condition the heart, and palpitations will go away over time. However, if anytime you feel palpitations, you must relax, count your pulse rate and assess regularity. If your heart rate is more than 100 bpm at rest or irregular, have an ECG (electrocardiogram). Regarding pain that becomes worse with eating, get an ECG done at the time of pain. In addition, I suggest you capsule Esomeprazole (Esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate) 20 mg twice a day. It can be a gastric ulcer, so I suggest you avoid eating spicy foods. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
