Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from a skin problem since a week. I am observing a red dot on my skin that itches, and later on there is a small red circle developing around the red dot. The redness gets resolved after a few days, but the itching persists. I suspect this has started after I wored a used t-shirt of my friend.

Please help me find a solution to my problem.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and gone through the images you sent (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It seems you have developed Pityriasis rosea (a skin rash trigged by a virus). It has got nothing to do with wearing a used t-shirt. It is caused due to a viral infection. It is a self-limiting disease, and resolves on its own within four to six weeks. I will suggest you to take the following medications -

  1. Apply Lactocalamine lotion (Kaolin and glycerine) twice daily for a week on the affected areas.
  2. Take a tablet Cetirizine 10 mg once daily for a week.

Kindly visit a dermatologist, speak to them about your condition and they will provide you with a proper diagnosis and treatment. I hope this has helped you out.

Thanks and regards.
