Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My daughter is 20 years old. She feels stressed due to learning new subjects in her undergraduation. She is not willing to continue her undergraduation as she faces difficulty in learning new subjects. She is not eating well and hates watching television. She also hates talking with friends and family. How to help her to come out of stress?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your daughter may have major depressive disorder due to her new life. She should try to follow the below guidelines to deal with it. It will help her.

  1. She should do exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes, like at least going for a walk. It will boost confidence.
  2. Your daughter should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on her normal breathing, do not stop or force her to stop her thoughts. It will calm her and relax her.
  3. She should eat healthy home-cooked food and avoid junk food.
  4. She must drink enough water.
  5. She should spend quality time with friends and family daily. Do not leave her alone. Encourage her to spend time with her old and good friends.
  6. She should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  7. She should take enough seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
  8. She must avoid tobacco or alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  9. You can give her a special subject teacher with which she needs help. Talk with her school principal and teacher about her problem. Give her time to get adjusted to a new subject.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
