Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had an ultrasound of my breast, and the radiologist determined it was a benign fibroadenoma of 0.9x0.5 cm. Now I cannot sleep, concentrate, think, or live normally. I am very young, and everything at my place is slow, and they do not recommend a biopsy but told to monitor it every six months for two years. What should I do?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

A 9 x 5 mm lesion with breast fibroadenoma characteristics is almost certainly benign. Therefore, the term fibroadenoma (a non-cancerous solid breast lump) is mentioned in the report. The recommendation is to monitor the lesion in accordance with imaging protocols. A biopsy is not required in suspected fibroadenomas unless there are significant changes in the 6-month follow-up scan. Do not worry.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Is there a way to make it shrink or disappear?

Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

A fibroadenoma (a solid breast lump) of the breast can change in size, disappear, and sometimes grow in size. This is due to the fact that your hormone levels play a role in the development of breast fibroadenomas.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
