Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 33-year-old male. My symptoms started after non-protected sex with a 34-year-female. I had occasional itching on the scrotum and bottom of the shaft, some weird sensation and pain at the top of the penis with occasional sores like balanitis, periodic burning at urination, rectal pain, and testicular pain in the left testicle, and difficulty having an erection. I underwent tests for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), syphilis and urine polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Mycoplasma. All the tests came back negative. Then I had medicines like Azithromycin, Ciprofloxacin, and Moxifloxacin for seven days. There was a remarkable improvement, but the symptoms came back after treatment was finished.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. The symptoms may be due to UTI (urinary tract infection), prostatitis, or psychological. I would suggest, 1. Drink more fluids and water. 2. Avoid friction and irritation. 3. Wear loose cotton inners. 4. Consult a urologist if needed. 5. Go for urine culture and sensitivity. Then your doctor may advise antibiotics based on reports. If you are thinking of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), go for an HIV antibodies test after three months of exposure for conclusive results.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have already done a urine culture, and it came back negative. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was repeated and is negative too. The symptoms cannot be psychological as they are very high in intensity, especially rectal pain.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. The duration between the exposure, symptoms, and tests is not mentioned. Urine culture and sensitivity may be repeated if symptoms persist. It is unclear who prescribed three different antibiotics and what is the basis for taking them? Is it based on urine culture reports or just like that? UTI (urinary tract infection) or prostatitis are known for recurrence. You may need a urologist's opinion, as suggested earlier.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
