Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex four days back. I woke up very itchy down there the next day. I looked at it in a mirror and noticed thick white discharge, and some bumps around the vaginal hole. Is it possible for STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) to show up within 24 hours? Or could it be an allergic reaction?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello, Thank you for stopping by!

I am here to provide expert opinions on your medical issues. It is most probably leukorrhea, a whitish, creamy, thick discharge. If infected, a fowl curd-like discharge comes out. The causes include the following: Fungal. Bacterial. Chlamydia (sexually transmitted disease). Gonorrhea (sexually transmitted disease). Rarely an allergy if itching is present. The treatment is as follows: Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications after their consent. Vaginal douching with the help of warm water and Betadine solution (one tumbler of warm water mixed with three to four teaspoonfuls of Betadine solution). Wash the vagina thoroughly at least two times a day. Take a tablet of OZ (Ofloxacin and Ornidazole) after lunch and dinner for five days. Take a tablet of Fluconazole 150 mg once per day for five days. Take a capsule of Doxycycline 1 gm once a day for seven to ten days. During this if possible have no unprotected sex as this may infect your partner. It may reoccur again. So you can take three courses in three months. You may continue with vaginal douching for a long time to maintain good hygiene. There is no harm or side effect. The vaginal tablet cannot be given to an unmarried person.

Thank you for consulting me.
