Patient's Query

Hello, doctor,

I recently had sex, and after that, my intimate area was dry, itchy, and swollen, and I felt a burning sensation. Also, there is increased white discharge. I am feeling itchy and uncomfortable even wearing a cotton cloth like underwear. I can not even walk normally. I feel better if I spread my legs while sitting or maintain a distance between my legs while walking. I washed my intimate area with water properly after having sex. I also used soap in that area, but the soap was not harsh. There is no issue in the intimate area when I urinate, like burning or itching. Also, my menstrual cycle date is expected in a few days. I faced a similar issue earlier after having sex, but it was resolved within a day. This time it is taking longer. Is my intimate area infected? Why is this happening? I do not understand. Can you help me with this issue? And also, can you tell me what to do in such cases? And how can I take precautions in the future in a natural way?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Do not worry. You will be fine soon, and it is not a life-threatening situation.

I need to know a few more details from you-

1. Whether the intercourse was protected or unprotected?

2. Did your partner use a condom?

3. Is the white discharge like cottage cheese in consistency?

It appears to be a vaginal infection based on your signs and symptoms.

I suggest you the following-

1. You must maintain excellent hygiene. Use a gentle feminine wash to clean the area.

2. You must locally apply Surfaz-SN (Beclometasone, Neomycin, and Clotrimazole) cream.

3. You must not perform any intense workouts, walking, or exercise for a few days.

4. You must wear loose cotton underwear.

5. Use Clotrimazole vaginal pessary for three consecutive nights for white discharge problem.

This shall improve your condition, and you will be fine from these issues within four to five days.

Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi,

My partner did not use a condom. He usually uses a condom. The white discharge does not look like spoilt milk. Today, I feel better, but still, there is a slight irritation in my intimate area. Also, the white discharge is less compared to the last three days. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi,

I have a query regarding intercourse. Last week I completed my menstrual cycle in about five days, and I had unprotected sex the next day. After sex, when I washed my intimate area, I saw some blood in my vaginal area. After sex, I felt some blood inside my vagina. Today is the fourth day after unprotected sex. I am a bit worried. Will I get pregnant?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I hope your white discharge problem is solved now. After going through the details presented by you, it appears that your partner had very rough intercourse without foreplay and your sexual arousal.

Please discuss with your partner regarding the same. The dryness in the vagina with rough intercourse can cause minor rashes and bleeding.

I would also like to know some more details regarding your sexual activity. For example- how many times do you have sex in a week or month?

Secondly, to get pregnant, the sperms have to be released inside the vagina of the female. These sperms then need to fertilize an egg which may or may not be available depending on the ovulation pattern of the female and other hormonal conditions. Finally, the fertilized egg must be implanted in the female's uterus. When all these processes happen successfully, a female is said to have conceived or become pregnant.

So, getting pregnant needs many things to go right, as you would have understood.

In your case, since the intercourse was immediately the next day after the menstrual period, most likely, you must not be ovulating if you have 28 days to 30 days of the cycle.

So chances of pregnancy are low but not absolutely zero.

When was your last unprotected intercourse? Please let me know.

Feel free to ask any questions or to share any additional information.

Thank you.
